Dr. Sheriece's Approach to Counseling
Dr. Sheriece is trained as a generalist which means she can work with individuals addressing a variety of concerns from life transitions, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, trauma, relationships, etc. She incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based strategies into an individualized therapeutic process. Much of therapy is being willing to sit in the emotions that are present while finding solutions and looking at alternative perspectives as a means to move forward. She uses a strengths-based approach to help clients identify their already present abilities to conquer their fears, let go of the past, and become the best version of themselves in the present. Integrating a holistic perspective, therapy may include focusing on other aspects of life to bring those aspects into alignment with client's goals, including financial literacy, health, and career. Ultimately, client's can begin to accept what they cannot control while feeling empowered to take control of their life in ways they didn't know was possible.
